Everything You Need To Know About The Crabs STD

Crabs STD Treatment

Using any pediculicide or lice-destroying agent as a Crabs STD Treatment involves medication like 1.0 percent permethrin lotion or a mousse with pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide. These products are available over the counter at drugstores or pharmacies and do not require a prescription.

Lindane shampoo is a Crabs STD treatment for which one needs a prescription. It can kill crab lice and their eggs (nits) but is not recommended as a first line of treatment. Lindane can be toxic to the brain and to other parts of one’s nervous system. Its use should be limited to infested persons who experienced failure with other treatments or cannot tolerate other medications that are less risky. Lindane is not suitable for treating the elderly, women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, people with a seizure disorder, people with very irritated skin or sores where the treatment would be applied, and people who are less than 110 pounds.

Ivermectin has successfully used to destroy lice but has not been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a crabs STD treatment. Malathion lotion 0.5 percent is a prescription medication that kills crab lice and nits, but like ivermectin, it has not been approved by the FDA.

The use of crabs STD treatment involves washing the infested area, towel drying, and carefully following the instructions from the medication package. Saturate the pubic hair and other infested areas thoroughly with the medication. Leave the medication on the hair for the length of time recommended in the instructions. After waiting the recommended time, the medication may be removed using the steps given in the instructions. The treatment may be repeated in nine to ten days if live crabs still remain.

After a crabs STD treatment is done, most of the nits may still be attached to hair shafts. These nits will have to be removed using one’s fingernails or a fine-toothed comb.

Kill any crab lice or nits remaining on clothing, towels, or bedding. Machine wash and machine dry such items that a crabs-infested person used in the last two to three days before the treatment. Hot water (at least 130°F) and the hot dryer cycle should both be used. Items that cannot be laundered may be subjected to dry cleaning and put away in a sealed plastic bag for two weeks.

All sex partners that a crabs-infested person had within the preceding month should be informed that they are at risk and may need to seek crabs STD treatment also.
